Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve final poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest bettors in the world. While gambling on online poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amount. I think tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be found participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in high stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player.
