Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He began playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
