Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve final poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest bettors around the world. While playing internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the min takes a majority of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amt.. I think television can alter our view of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world could be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be seen competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in cash games?
